Jan 18th It's Sunday, so it must be Snowing!

Yes, it's snowing again in NH. We are expecting 4-8 inches before it's done...I think it will be more as I think we already have close to 4 inches at 8am..and the storm warning goes to Midnight tonight.

The good thing about snow, is it makes everything look fresh and new. The bad is driving when the roads aren't fully cleared. As this is my son's first winter as a driver, I think he's getting a bit frustrated, as I won't let him drive in it yet...at least not while it's snowing. So I got up early this morning to shovel (basically just push the snow off of the ice in my driveway) so I could drive him to work. I won't complain about not sleeping in, because at least he has been lucky enough to find a part time job.

My friends and I checked out a new to us scrapbook store yesterday called Scrapbooker's Dream in Tewksbury MA. Very nice store. I heard the owner telling someone she is expanding next month. I have to drive by her store every 4-5 weeks when I take my daughter's figure skates to be sharpened, so I am looking forward to stopping back soon.

Winter Wonderland?

OK...I do like snow and I'm very thankful that so far this year that most of our storms have been the fluffy stuff and not the heavy wet stuff, however I wouldn't mind if we had a least one straight week without a storm. Last night we got about 5 inches and it's still coming down. I went outside nice and early this morning (6:30) with my 16 yo son to shovel as he needed to be at work by 7:30. we managed to clear the driveway in about 1/2 hour...not bad seeing the snow blower is broken and we were doing the old fashioned shoveling! Only bad thing is that I will have to go out again in an hour or so to shovel again! Oh well...at least I can say I got my exercise for the day.

Anyway, if you live in a snowy area, take a minute to look out at the white fluffy blanket of snow...even though many of us consider it an inconvience, it really is beautiful to see. Makes the world look clean and fresh and ready for the possibilities.

Mad Cow or Dumb Blonde

I"m really not a dumb blonde, and not all blondes are dumb....however...this is how my day started:

This morning, B came in and said to me..Mom you should go out early, your car doors are frozen shut.
OK...didn't think much about it, as we had the ice storm yesterday...not totally unexpected. Went out..felt kinda warm, but my car is covered with ice...so I'm trying to open the doors.....nothing...tried all 4....nothing...called my brother for advise...he says try a hair dryer or hot water and see what happens...
So the next 20 minutes I'm blow-drying my car doors around the seams...trying to get the doors to open...Nothing.
Called Al, my co-worker to say I'm going to be late. Doors won't open. tell him how I've been trying to get them open...hip checked to try to break any ice, blow-drying etc...he says wow...that's weird...
then he says to me...did you unlock the doors....I don't lock my doors to my car when I'm home I said...but maybe I should check...
Doors were locked.....

1/7/09 another snowy day

OK...at least 4 storms in the past few weeks..I'm getting tired of winter already. The kids had delayed opening Monday and no school today...seems like they are spending more days out of school instead of in school...

Jan 4, 2009 - a new year

Yesterday was the 18th birthday of M, the oldest daughter of one of my best friends. So I went downstairs and put together this little card for her. The papers used are from the Level 2 Magic Moments Kit and the stamp sets are Cupcake Sprinkles and Card Sentiments, all from Close to My Heart. I also used Tim Holtz's grungeboard #1 and #8. The inks and markers are CTMH-Chocolate, citrus leaf and Hollyhock, for ink and dutch blue, hollyhock, sunflower for markers. The bling is Clear Sparkles (CTMH) and Stickles (ranger).
The scalloped oval die is from Nestabilities.
